ABOUT ME

My Name is Darren Birchall and I have been an amateur photographer on and off for many years.  After a recent very long break I have rediscovered the hobby in semi-retirement started to take it more seriously.  I like to take a wide variety of images but generally veer away from images of people / street photography (though I do take some) and more towards architecture, industrial archaeology and anything really with an historical connection.

One of my favourite things to do is to travel and try to match the resulting images with words, whether they are poems from other poets or written by me, or a more traditional narrative as, for example, in my blog post "A Turret for a King: Looking for Wilfred Owen in Scarborough".  I also produce books from these, which are usually just a single copy for me and my family to keep.

I hope you enjoy what you see here and if you would like to connect to comment, share your work or just discuss photography, I would be happy to here from you.  Meanwhile, thanks for stopping by and for joining me on my journey.
